Repost: Sto Nino de Bustos Church: Art by my Kuya Lito SJ

Standard

A repost from August 23 2010 entry… sharing again my Kuya’s Art…

From my Kuya Lito whom I am getting a lot of inspiration and advise and words of wisdom: Like..

“Its alright to start late… think of Vincent Van Gogh…” (about never give up on your dreams and taking action)

“Jump the cliff… you just build your wings on your way down”  (about taking courage on big decisions to make)

August 2010 post:

Just want to share the painting of my brother inspired by my photo of Sto Nino de Bustos Church at Bustos Bulacan:

see more of his works at:
Lito’s Abstract Horizon

Going back to art is not too late for me, I guess. Creativity needs to be tapped and practiced… I believe, there is no such thing as creativity in ideas… only in execution.

Pillows by Pillow Me (by me actually)

Standard

Glad to share that my pillows were featured in a blog “Baby and Breakfast.” Not expecting it really. The pillow project was done in a flash due to an ardent request of my cousin’s friend. In usual situation, we could have declined the project. But now, I’m glad we gave in to the request. The photoshots are just too cute. Particularly the babies. (My pillows are just props to them 😊😄, no big deal haha!)

Just too proud of my pillows (my new babies that keep me sane and creative for the past few months). They are actually what I’ve been doing all along (why im not blogging or doing most of my 101… #alibis)….

Anyways, you will see a lot of my pillows in the coming blog. So bear with it.

52 Weekend Marbles

Standard

Sunday must always be a SUNday, according to the wisdom of my 5-yr-old Aliya! No rain, to grumpy day, but it’s all fun in sun! Well it is supposed to be! But the past weekends were all rainy… and she was quite “disappointed ” that her theory is wrong… But you cannot put a litlle girl down… No one can rain on her parade… That’s why on that one weekend, 3 weeks ago, we played and danced under the downpour of rain, and we enjoyed the flowing ankle-deep flood outside. She invited everyone outside! So the 5 of us were all soaking wet! Anyway, it is a family SUNday! We had fun, and Aliya and I, decided no one and nothing will rain on our SUNdays!

The weekends doesn’t have to be costly for family to enjoy… a walk to the park, a visit to Dad’s farm, or just playing on a big mat outside the garage.

We did just that yesterday, spreading a big mat on the garage, playing with Aliya and helping Kuya Jolo, designing his skatecycle and had a wonderful chat…

Looking at them, getting bigger and older, actually made me feel “grumpy” a bit…. Jolo said, “well, mum, its the way it is, us getting older…we will not get any younger, will we?” (but how about me? getting “grumpier”?)

Well, let me skip my grumpy thoughts… I have decided that I have to seize these kind of moments, while we are at it, in more vivid and vibrant ways. Weekends has to be “perfect” like this! SUNday! FUNday! Family day!

52 Weekend Marbles will represent just that… Well, 52 representing the 52 weekends in a year. I will start in this exactly 1st day of 2nd half-year. The story of “1000 marbles” I have read longtime ago always lingers in me (yes, it is supposed to be 1000 marbles, from a story of a 50-year-old man who conservatively “calculated” his life until 75… see story here).

So, I have collected just now my marbles, I happened to have a ready 52 marbles that I put in a jar — with another empty jar (for now) for “great” weekends, and a tiny glass for “wasted” ones – which I hope (or I will make sure) that it will remain empty.

Happy Life Ahead!

Annoyingly Funny…

Standard

Just some thoughts about things that are annoying but one can’t help but just be good-natured about it… Examples are:

  • A big guy in barong a seatmate in public van, who opted to activate the sound of his old celfone (when he clearly has a headphone) and proudly played “i will survive” and “freak-out”… Those who wants to take a nap were clearly flusterred. And the songs….. Hindi bagay!
  • A usual scene in LRT. Why it is seems automatic for the guys who got hold of a seat, then suddenly got to sleep when a girl stands in front of him. Zzzzzz….
  • Another LRT scene, guys who sings out load, while he is listening on his headset. It is acapella for us who hears…. Volume down please…

Just something to smile about  for today  evethough its awkward, and irritating….

Today: Take Each Moment as it Comes

Standard

I will count this day a separate life.
I will remember that those who have fewest regrets
are those who take each moment as it comes
for all that it is worth.

Today Series: 21/22

From the Book of Og Mandino: Mission Success (The Seeds of Success)

This quote from this favorite book is what I almost live by as my personal motto… (you see, it is also the tagline of this blogsite….)

This moment is all that we have, time is our companion, we are the maker of our life…

the choice on how we live it is within our power…

Bohol: “Date,” and Nature Adventure – Day 1

Standard

Our Bohol Escapade : Date with Papi

We were alone on this trip, no kids, no friends, new place, new adventure… We look forward to wonderful time. Little have I researched about this place, i only did my “homework” a day before we leave. I want to be surprised and amazed… I just need the keywords for certain tours and spots, and leave everything to last-minute arrangement.

First nice thing stored for us is the beauty of the resort, Flushing Meadows. It’s actually for “honeymooners” and those want to be “isolated.” The resort landscape is admirable, the rooms are cozy, however, the beach is narrow and not too inviting. And the food is quite pricey… Anyway, we can adjust and still enjoy the place.

I have only arranged our first tour when we get there, I called Kuya Jerry (recommended by colleagues) and set the following desired places: Dauis Church, Mag-Aso Waterfalls, Hinagdanan Cave, St. Joseph Church, Alona Beach. All of these I choose are not included in our hotel package.

Dauis Church, a beautiful, artful church, with well-known miraculous eternal well (balon) of holy water. The ceilings are artistically designed with murals and moldings. I got so many shots of this posted in my Instagram.

Next stop is quite far and out-of-the-way, the Mag-Aso Falls… I really have to see it, so I insisted to include here in our tour. The falls is splendid, but have to take 97 steps down to reach it… No sweat… :>

It’s quite dark when we reached the Hinagdanan Cave, the ticket booth have already closed, but an enthusiastic guide let us in (over-the-bakod)… Nothing can stop us at this point (we came this far not to see this!)… It’s worth it, and our guide was very funny! Thanks for the wonderful experience (and photos)!

We just passed by the Panglao Church because it was about nightime. We’ve decided to “splurged” on our dinner and beer on seafoods restaurant along Alona Beach. We had great time watching the fire-dancer (which is actually just a kid)…

So that’s Day 1 of our Bohol Experience… Will blog the Part 2 next time…
