I set again today this 29-day Giving Challenge (part 2).
Just want to rekindle again in me the spirit of kindness and charity.
In a way, I can be more sensitive about others and their plights and pleasures.
And this also promotes “abundance mentality,” right!?
The challenge starts now: October 10, 2010 (10-10-10 adds to 30, just a variation of 29-day giving challenge)
Day 1: A star pillow to our assistant
Day 2: Lunch treat a friend
Day 3: The book “The Obvious” by Lloyd Luna to a staff
Day 4: A birthday ampaw for our assistant
Day 5: A packed lunch to a collegue
Day 6: A lunch, coffee, cake with Papi
Day 7: Grocery pack for Mama and Daddy
Day 8: Celfone to cousin
I came across a site: 29-day Giving Challenge: Changing Life One Gift at a Time!. It promotes simple acts of altruism and generosity believing that one simple deed can make an impact to anyone. Thus, I challenged myself to do conscious “effortful” act of giving. (But I have a confession to make, I officially did the 29-gift-giving in 59 days, but there are menial gifts in between).
True to my theme “butterfly effect,” I believe that this will change somehow the series of event in the lives of those people I “touched”… I just hope and pray that only good things will it bring….
see also my 29-gift list
by the way, i will not stop on the 29th gift…. 🙂
I came across these nice sites the “29-day Giving Challenge” and the “Global Giving Village” and I was amazed how many generous people out there that give their time, energy, love and little something for various causes.
I believe that the best gift is something we dont expect anything in return.
But, little it may be, once we give, we “get back” the feeling of JOY. Most of the times, the “payback” is greater than the things we gave away. Tangible or intangible. Sometimes, we receive them from the least expected or on the dire situation we need them. I believe in that law of universe, the law of abundance when we give, share more.
By the way, in most instances, TIME of oneself is the best thing to give to someone.
I am challenged by that 29-day thing, so, i will try… to give more…. and beyond 29-days….:)
