Having Found this “Awesome” Article at RD Just at the Same Time I Was Thinking of Updating My Blog about “Simple Pleasures”
“In Search of Awesome,” an article in Reader’s Digest that made me smile. The “awesome” sayings are really witty and nice and simple. These are actually “ignorable” acts, things, circumstances in everyday life, but really awesome when you realize the awesome feelings it gives you. This can be found in Neil Pasricha’s blog “1000 Awesome Things” (now a book)…. See it and I’m 100% sure you’ll find something that will make you smile (then count that as your own “Awesome” moment) 🙂
I been thinking about updating my blog (this blogsite) for quite sometime, I’ve been “inactive” since September when we ventured to our new business. I’ve droped few entries and pics every now and then (mostly about my Project K), but not about more serious thoughts. I noticed also that I neglected my “regular” entries like the “Pic Note”, “Tips and Insights” and “Today’s Simple Pleasures”…. Anyway, as I was thinking reviving these projects, I came across this article of “Awesome.” It’s almost the same thing about my “Today’s Simple Pleasures” which I started last year – not yet aware of the other blogsite ha… – (so nobody can “sue” me for plagiarism 🙂 )…
Anyways, I will again pursue this… basically for myself… because I want to be grateful about everyday’s blessings and simple acts or things that make us realize that “everyday” is a miracle… and a magic… and most definitely a “choice”!
Well, good luck sa akin….
I will be doing again this blog (part 2), for “today’s simple pleasure in six words”….
just really want to appreciate life EVERYDAY, no matter how simple, no matter how corny, no matter how trivial… Life is too short to be mindful of anything other the positive! So….
Sept 21 – Bonding with Aliya while downloading videos
Sept 22 – A good morning laugh with Papi! (RX Top 10)
Sept 23 – Good sales at starcity. Besteller pillows!
Sept 24 – Bedtime readings with Aliya and Pinggz
Sept 25 – Chicken Calzone bonding with Sis Kerol
Sept 26 – Surprise lunch-pot-luck for Pentz
Sept 27 – Sarap chicharon moment with Atty.
Sept 28 – Interacted and played with audit staff
It’s been awhile since I have made updates on my 101… The last time I took inventory, I had only 18 “minus”… but amazingly as i took the count now, I had already 26 “minus” (see here)… well that’s 25% complete with still 665 days to go… fairly good…. But I have to keep up with the stories behind these accomplishments… so need to blog-blog more…
But later on that. For now, I will also have to take a look on my tasks that are in-progress and needs further effort to accomplish… or better, i have to revisit some of them that seems “no-ending” tasks and rather change/enhance them with attainable-time-bound ones.
Some of the progress that worth noting are:
🙂 I am more into reading and been around with lots of books
😉 I am keeping up with my “motivation-project” with my staff
🙂 I am keeping the contacts with family more often
🙂 Being happy and contended with simple hits and pleasures for each day
😉 Got my true-to-life digital camera (my wish)… but need to be serious in photography
🙂 Having done the surprise birthday treat for my Mama and Dad
🙂 Done lots of movie-music clips and digital scrapbooks lately
🙂 I am planning for a travel holiday in Bangkok in August
😉 The teachings and the learnings with kids are still the priority
What else… well, just want to say, I’m still on my 101 in 1001 days…
Today, I am amazed how Aliya have grown! She can now totally comprehend and can understand simple instructions and can now command attention!
Her few gimik and antics are:
🙂 she picks up bag and says bye-bye and go to the door…
😉 then come back to have everyone kiss her
🙂 she doesn’t know (or don’ want) to kiss, but she want to be kissed a lot
😉 she loves to play mommy to her doll
🙂 she loves water and swimming
🙂 she loves microphone… she sings (or hum, actually) and pretend to sing
🙂 she keeps on saying,….love… love… while hugging
🙂 she calls on us to sit when she’s now on her high chair to eat
🙂 she can now eat by herself
🙂 she dance when she see somebody dance on the TV (we danced a lot yesterday)
🙂 she wants to pick-up the phone and “calls” Mama and Daddy
🙂 she once asked to be seated on the “throne” when she said wii-wii.
🙂 she can count, her favorite number is seven
😉 she do “abs-rocket” hahaha
1. Today I Will be Careful About What I Say
I will carefully choose and guard my words being certain that I do not spread gossip or say ill about others.
2. Today I Will Not Strike Back
If somebody is rude, if someone is impatient, if someone is unkind… I will not respond in a like manner. If I come across someone who treats me harshly or unfairly, I will quietly ask God to bless that person.
3. Today I Will Go The Extra Mile
I will find ways to help share the burden of another person. Or do the my best one step further without thinking of reward or affirmation.
4. Today I Will Forgive
I will forgive any hurts or injuries that come my way.
5. Today I will do Act of Kindness, But I Will Do it Secretly
I will reach out anonymously and bless the life of another.
6. Today I Will Treat Others The Way I Wish to be Treated
I will practice the golden rule with everyone i encounter
7. Today I Will Raise the Spirit of Someone and Affirm his/her Goodness
My smile, my words, my expression of support and affirmation, can make a difference in someone’s daily life.
8. Today I Will Recommit my Attitude, Beliefs, Confidence, Drive, Enthusiasm and Focus
I will recommit the source of my “fuel” to attain my goals. Everyday may not be good, but there’s good in every day!
9. Today I Will Nurture Myself (and the People I Love)
I will do necessary to take care of myself, physically, mentally, spiritually, creatively. I will never seize to learn, experience, explore, live, laugh and love.
10. Today I Will Grow Spiritually
I will spend more time in prayer today: I will find quiet place at some point during the day to listen to God’s voice.
These are not actually new year’s resolutions but just a re-affirmation of my values! So help me God!
I am not a quitter!
But there are things, situation, habits… and people that we have to let go… for me (for them) to grow, to prosper, to live on!
This week and last week are just that:
😦 saying bye (but not giving up) — to a favorite, good friend who will be going back to States, and we don’t know if it is (again) for good or she will be coming back here (also for good?)
😦 saying bye to another favorite friend who will be leaving for San Francisco, too. The prospect of seeing him again is quite too far (again), say 2-3 years.
😦 letting go – two good audit staff are resigning (as their mentor, I really want them to explore/grow more, but at the same time, I feel bad because of feeling of “inadequacy” by not providing them enough reasons to stay…)
🙂 giving up (but to where it goes, I’m glad)…. our clothes and things for the flood victims! (included there is my “benchmark pants”… the one I want to squeeze into someday…)
😦 saying good bye to the things we’ve lost during the flood… we are not complaining! 🙂 we are not badly hit and, thank God, we have no serious casualty from our family, friends, or people we personally know.
🙂 giving up the habits of unconscious credit card spending….
🙂 saying good bye to my 7lbs… (really!!!)
😦 giving up the plan to arrange my “adopted” sister’s medication… because she is giving up HERSELF…. (this one I still have to reconsider… I should not really give up on her)
😦 letting go of the concept and image of Jolo as just a kid… I have to accept that he is a “grown” boy now! (whaaahh).
🙂 giving up the thought of keeping these people, things, situation, habit… with full understanding that “giving up, letting go, saying bye….” is just a phase for us to move on, grow and have better perspective….
Life goes on and on and on….
