(Catch-up post: Feb 2013)
Last night was unplanned. I never intend to eat dinner actually, not that hungry, but since Jolo was having his dinner (seldom I see that), I dined with him. Small talks lead to 2-hr conversation between a mother and a teenage son, who talked about school, friends, girls, dates, kiss and the sacred act 😦 and his take about all of it… (Imagine: son: unashamed, mum: outwardly cool but secretly aghast)… But I’m glad he let me “in” in this stage of his life…
The mother in me wanted to protest and get freaky over some certain stuff but i restrained myself… 🙂 i let him brag about his courting style, his ways of “learning” all these… (he do research and lot of reading, mind you). I have also snippet of info about how he treats girls. I might not call him a total gentleman, but he surely cares about the girls he treats as friends, reminding or warning them of what to act and not to act around boys (like him). At this point, he claimed he considered himself an “informed” kid but not rushing on things (thankfully! wheew!). He likes to be “popular” (he’s quite so in twitter), but despised his other friends who go to the length of being a “social-climber”… This fad about his twitter thing, I feel, is beginning to wane, i know so… He doesn’t stick much on stuff that are just “trending”. He shifts and tries again other stuff, or go back to his most favorites hobbies, like skating, reading, art and music (still a handful).
This boy is not anymore a boy… I have to remind myself… I pray that he retains his values (or any good values I like to think I have taught him)…. I hope I will be there for him or he wants me to be there for him in times of ups and downs…
This is a new phase for the boy… and the mum…
See Jolo in my early blogs in his early years when he was so innocent and still my “little boy”…. (mom’s still emoting…)

I almost forgot to post about the movie clips I made for Mama, a loving tribute to her. These were shown during our surprise party for her… and I have made these available in You Tube (click title to link)… I hope it summarizes our love and salute to her!
Mama Mia by Abba – a celebration of friendship and her adventures
She’s Always a Woman by Billy Joel – a celebration of love (Dad and Mama’s Moments)
She’s Somebody’s Hero by Jamie O’niel – our tribute to her motherhood
Because you Love Me by Celine Dionne – our loving song dedicated to her being a great person, mother, aunt, wife and grandmother.

How time flies! Now Jolo is in High School, all grown-up and getting more “independent”… I’m having a mixed feeling of being proud and forlorn…Medyo nag-eemo ba. Haaaay, I still remember his first weeks in pre-school, when he didn’t want to be left behind (imagine how he cried hard!)… but now he even asked us not to take him to school anymore. I remember how he was adamant not to have a “cut” (tule baga) forever… but last summer, he practically prepared himself for it. I remember how I have to wait outside an open CR door while he is doing his pupu…. e ngayun, he keeps me out of his room while he’s changing. And how he clings to his old grumpy pillow since he was 4… but now he can sleep all by himself…. How can I forget every night since his year 2 to year 10 that i have to “hilot-paa” (massage) for him to get to sleep (nagpangakuan pa kami tigil na kami pag 8 na siya… but it lasted till his 10th year)…. and now i have to “bribe” him in order for him to sleep beside me…. haaaay… am I just getting old to feel this? Feeling grumpy again! Well, we are getting old,,, and so does the kids…
So much for that “emoting” …. Ang gusto ko iwento ay about our “quest” of choosing his High School…
He is now HS in Barcelona Academy, a new school run by veteran educators and preacher. I have a quite long list of schools to choose from and I actually had a hard time deciding. Jolo and I actually spent a pizza-moment one time to weigh the schools of our choice. BSU is on top of our list, but for some reason (probably a good sign), he was short-listed. It is quite far, and very tiring for Jolo to go to and from. We also have St. Mary’s and MC in our list. We almost enrolled in St. Michael. Barcelona Academy is in our list, but it is its first year to operate, so i have my hesitation.
Finally, while I was about to decide, I came across Bro Bo Sanchez blog, and he featured Barcelona Academy, telling the story actually of the humble beginning of its owner (wife) and the faith and mission of the husband… and it awed me… I texted the number with few questions and Ms. Tess Barcelona personally called me. I met the couple later and has finally decided that this might be the school that will help my son form his adolescent years….
As I look at Jolo, I know I am proud of him… (pero emote pa rin) and i trust him that he can handle what life will have to offer him… of course with our guidance… and faith and perseverance…
(101 note: #11 is now slashed-off)
Great! it’s a success! can’t describe in words the overwhelming mixed feelings of what happened in the party…there are bloopers, there are tensed moments… but that’s just menial compared to the great moments that will stick in our being…. the memory will live on for everybody….
Happy Birthday MAMA!
So, here’s the pictures na lang….

I’ve been busy preparing for Mama’s bday… this is a surprise party… and we have to be discreet about what we are doing behind her back… 🙂 I thank all my “cousinship” who are members of the “committee” for the help and support! We still have 6 days to go… and we are cramming! wheew…! hope we can make it…
There are lot of ideas and gimiks (discussed in net and in “starkubs” in the middle of night)… for one, this is a best-ever-pasta party we will ever host (or we ever attend!), the titas are actually worried what I will have for food… there is also a “walk down memory lane” theme (see here the inspiration), hope I will be done with my music video and all… the motif is pink and orange (something like pics below)… and of course we need a lot of improvision because it’s rainy season here….
Well, Good luck to us!
Ohh, did I mention that this is in my “101”…
Mama’s 75th Birthday is fast-approaching….
We need to prepare-prepare! This has to be exciting!
I’ve been really toying the idea of Pasta Party with her Amigas…
This is somewhat unique and enjoyable!
I came across this site for the ideas!
